Hey, I have finally started to travel around New Zealand after my help exchange. I left Auckland on Thursday and arrived in Paihia in the Bay of Islands lunch time the same day. I met some great people on the bus and we all went on a free boat trip together where we saw wild dolphins and some amazing scenery. The weather is so much better here. We had a BBQ at the hostel the first night but had an early night as we had to leave at 7am the next day for a trip to Cape Reinga. The other residence were partying until the early hours and skinny dipping in the pool...lovely. We went to a Gumdigger site, 90 mile beach, Cape Reinga where the 2 oceans meet and then sand boarding down the biggest sand dewns. OMG it was amazing. The hardest thing was getting up the hill but once I got the courage to lie down on the boogie board and fly down the hill I wanted to do it again. We went for fish and chips and got back around 6pm. We moved hostels into an apartment which is lovely. Kitchen, washing machine and a clean bathroom, bliss. We bought some food and stayed in playing drinking games till around 4am. Had a brief trip to the local club but the locals were not the most welcoming to say the least. Had a lie into today, it is sunday after all. Me and Phillipa are cooking a roast dinner for the other guys, we need it to prepare for another night of drinking games and not much sleep. Having so much fun but I head back to Auckland tomorrow to head south.
