Hello everybody!!
As you can see, we are back in Melbourne again!! Working, again!! We have not written a blog in a few months as we have just been working away here and there hasn't been much to report. As our time in Australia creeps to an end, we thought we would check in with you all!
In our last blog, we had just returned from the amazing Milford Sound and were making our way inland to start working in the outback for 3 months at a pub. In a nutshell, we wish we had stayed in Melbourne! When we arrived in Wandoan (or Wanboring as we called it), it wasn't so bad. It was a very small mining town with absolutely nothing in it bar the pub, the library and couple of shops so it was as well we only had 1 day off a week! It was therefore, really easy to save your wages as there was nothing to spend it on!! We couldn't say the same for the locals though, whose favourite past time was getting drunk!! Some of the locals weren't too bad and a lot of the mining guys were foreigners including lots of Irish! The rest of them were so very red-neck and very stereotypical inlanders. As a whole, we ended up hating the place and we managed to land the most miserable, horrid boss who hated being there almost as much as we did!!
After a while, we just got fed up being spoke to like we were 2 idiots, so we told her to stick the job and flew back to Melbourne and I started back at my old job 2 days later. Matt got a new job in a fancy restaurant in the city. We even moved into the same apartment block as before!
Altogether, we were in Wandoan for around 7 weeks and we have never been more glad to see the back of a place in our whole lives!! We have been back in Melbourne for around 4 weeks now and we only have another 3 weeks left before we will leave Australia for good!! It's scary stuff as it means we have less and less time to travel before we have to fly home, which neither of us wants to do yet!!
At least we have some the best parts of the trip to look forward to! We fly to New Zealand on 26th July and then onto USA on 20th August. We have already started making plans as to what we want to see, renting a campervan and we have booked our accomodation for New York too!! We are really excited about having our last 7 weeks free without work and moving on to new places!! As it was with the beginning of our trip, we will be able to post lots of blogs about where we are and upload our photos so you can see some of the amazing things we know we are going to see! It will be time to go home before we know it (not for long if I have anything to do with it), so we intend to enjoy every minute of it!
Lots of love
Nicola & Matt
