sunday 13th aug - Bangkok - River Kwai - Bangkok
arrived in bangkok at 5 in the morning after getting off the over night train, wont get a shower until tonite so felling bit grubby now. got in the mini buses and headed for the early morning floating markets, they were amazing, everyone sells stuff from their canoes things and u head down the river in a canoe and float over to the boat which holds things u want to buy! very strange, they grab hold of your boats and try and make u buy things. then headed to the war cementry where over 7000 PoW are buried, then the Jeath War Museum, which was very interesting. it was all about the PoW who built a bridge over the river kwai. we then walked over the bridge. i tell u what thailand is not big on health and safety the bridge was so dangerous had big holes in wheere u could fall in the river and lots of tripping hazards! then had lunch at a lovely buffet place overlookign the river, we are eating in some amazing restaurants. then visited a temple within a cave, very strange. went further into the cave but the smells of bats was too much and we werent allowed to go any further. then walked on a railway track which headed around the side of the cave. our guide took us there, and then a train started heading towards us so we had to get off the track and stand on a rock that was on the edge on a big cliff. it was a good job that the train was coming fast and it could have knocked us over the cliff, again health and safety people! arrived at the New World Lodge hotel in Bangkok at 6, really nice hotel, amie and i glad as staying here for next four nites. settled in scrubbed up then went for a group dinner, good going in big group as u get to try so many differernt foods. last offical night of the tour so went for a night out in a place called Patpong. lets just say it was a very intersting nite in a seedy place with lots of ladyboys!!!!
