Round the World in 155 Days!
The Great Ocean Road was amazing and the photos really don't do it justice. We spent 3 days driving along it and taking in the sites - London bridge, Bay of Islands 12 apostles etc. You probably noticed if you read the Melbourne postcard that Nick has issues with the flies so, as a joke I buy him a face net. I should have realised he would wear it!! We stay in a tiny place called Princetown, which has about 3 houses a shop and bar. We wait until 7.30 and then head back to the 12 apostles to watch the sunset, which was amazing. We hang around 20mins after dusk as the Rough Guide suggests and tiny penguins swim to shore and waddle up the beach - they are so cute!! Head back to Princetown and watch the tennis final with the locals encouraging us to support Lleyton - they are gutted.
Carrying along the road we stop off at a waterfall and on the walk there we encounter our first snake. After Nick's tactic of singing 'please go away mr snaky' doesn't work we result to screaming and running past it. I try and get Nick to go back and take a photo but he wont. Stop of at Apollo bay and have lunch on the beach then head on. End up in Lorne (Nick thinks this is the best place on the GOR) Cook up some food and look for some where to camp with out paying. Nick wooses out and we end up having to call security to book in because its about 10.30. After watching the surfers in awe Nick decides he is going to show them how it's done and buys a body board and insists I call him 'Johnny Utah' as Nick perfects his skills I chill on the beach until about 2 hours later when I join him and catch some waves ( I think I am better than him!!)
We move on due to it beginning to get a bit cold and end up in Torquay at the outlet warehouse of Quicksilver and Rip Curl and I by some tops because I left my t-shirts in some hostel and because in is now raining v hard - we get a macds!
We end up in Queenscliff to get ferry to Philips Island (there are loads of koalas and seals and penguins - I cant wait) very wet and windy so we get some cheap wine to warm us up.
