After some emotional farewells Kate pick us up and we get about 5 minutes down the road and nick needs the toilet! The fight is quite good - the food is minging apart from a tub of chrunchie ice cream - nick digs straight in but ice cream flies into the air goes all over me and the man next to me - we find this quite funny, he does not. I manage to sleep for about 3 or 4 hour nick only gets about 1. We arrive In a humid but west Singapore - I am massive compared to these people - it is great. We get a taxi to our hotel and as we are looking round nick point out " all tress look the same" Hotel is really nice - we have a bath and im even to big for the bath!! After settling in we go off to explore - we head ed to Marina Bay on the MRT (this is the underground which is v clean and everyone is really nice and polite). We have some sugar Cain green drink which is quite nice. We then went back to Clarke Quay I got a cocktail and nick got a beer for the New Year countdown. It appears that Singapore have just discovered silly string and snow stray so ender up getting covered and attacked by 4 year olds. It was really strange being hot (v hot) for new year and not being with friends and family - but we were more concerned with getting some sleep so headed back where nick watched football and I go to sleep for 12 hours. Nick has a mental night sleep where he starts talking in his sleep - I try and calm him down at which point he thinks im attacking him and runs to the bath room where he wakes up. I wake nick up at 12 and he thinks we have slept for 24 hours later he point out not even Dave Evans could do that! Head out its it hot and wet - in fact its pouring and go to Orchard road. First shop we see is topshop - I love this place nick does not. I end up buying flip flops because mine rube (yes mum you were right) nick gets batteries for cameras and starts bartering with man - v funny tries to sell him everything in the shop. Nick nearly buys it all. Head to Raffles hotel and nick does a typical Nick Dill thing (I am just going to point out I still have sore feet from my shoes and the new flip flops are rubbing) and wonders around looking for the hotel for about and hour with the lonely planet in hand......when we find it it is next door to the under ground station we got off at - he then point out 'you'll remember it now!" Go to the long bar and have a Singapore sling and monkey nuts (no we didn't stay there). Decide to go to the night safari take about 10 trains and 12 buses to get there..........we have no money and they do not have a cash machine.....take about 10 buses and go to orchard road and get some food and watch arsenal v chalton.
