Spent a couple of days in Broome after flying up from Perth, ikts a really tiny town but expensive one the first day we wondered around and looked in the opal shops, broome is very famous for Opal mining history, then caught the bus to town beach for ther afternoon, the weather was really nice so just chilled out for the afternoon, went back to go to the deckchair moves , out door cinema but was closed due to a private booking!!!
Spent the next day on Cable beach it is really beautiful playing in the sea and doing a bit of sunbathing before heading back to get picked up for out 11 day tour of the outback bushman style!!!.
When we were picked up by our driver and host we went back to Cable beach for a bbq for sunset, then went to the caravan park via the bootle shop !! to have a lesson on putting up the tents.
Next morning we have fun getting the tent down in the Dark at 0530!!! then hit the raod in out 4wd truck, the Kimberleys has fwere people per square kilometer than almost any other place on earth!! first top is a small township called Derby where we visited the Boab Prison tree which was onced used as a temporary prison for local Aborigines, not much else in Derby!!! We then hit the Famous Gibb River Road where we can see you need the 4wd, we set up camp then go for a walk to Tunnel Creek where you climb over the rocks into pitch black caves full of back and walking along side fresh water croc's to see the Slaimites and tights and Aboriginal drawings , get back and settle in for a great dinner as every night and sit around the fire.
Next morning we went to Windjana Gorge where sheer cliffs tower above thew white sands and freshies are sunning them selves, spent rest of day travelling.
next day we visited the king leopold Ranges in the morning and stopped at bells Creek gorge where you walk through the undergrowth to find beautiful pools some of us deceided to talk the extra walk up and down the rocks to the lowers pool which ment crossing the water up to waist height on slippy stones at the lower pool the was an amazing waterfall and then went for a guided swin with Chappy out tor leader through the caves, really nice an refreshing at it was 30 degress, on the way back we crossed over the stones again quite funny cause guess who fell over !!!! very danty apparntley and Craig out host managed to grab my trainers , very funny got a goos laugh from the group, not the best way to cross!!!.
We then hit the Gibb river road through the rugged countryside and stopped many times for cattle crossing wild horses really spectacular, that night we really did Bush camp not loo or showers just a lav Tree!!! and a shoval if required, camped out over the stars with surronded by Dingo's and Cattle, In the Morning Chappy was woken by Craig shining this torch from the top of the truck when he slept trying to shoo away the Dingos as Chappy was surronded and one had his boot!!.
Next day we went to manning Gorge where we visited Galvins gorgewhich was tottal the best gorge we had been to, to get to it we had a 1.5hour trek throgh and starting with crossing another river in your swimmers as it was really deep and floating the bags acroosin in boxes once on the other side we started the trek in the rative bush land with the sun rising as we go, once we arrived and climbed down it opened up to the best waterfall we had seen an 15 very happy faces to see the water, all jumped in striaght away to cool down and Craig led the way to climb the slippery rocks to jump off the waterfall which was about 20 meters high really good fun.
next day another really early start 0430 breakfast, now getting the tent doen to a tee in the dark and putting it up in the dark Go team ING!! we crossed the Pentecost River where the road disapears into the river!!!Chappy had to help a motor bike over by carrying all his gear and then came back for us!! great fun, we then carried on our journey to the El Questro Wilderness Reserve stopping at the Cockburn ranges which were where part of the Australia the movie was filmed, all the area we explored the next two days most of it was in the film, now need to watch it!!! so glad to get to camp as they had showers 3 days with out a shower and just using baby wipes to keep a bit clean we were all gagging you have never seen 15 people put there tents up and unload the bus so quick, the the race to showers began!!!
