Today was a hectic day. It seemed like we didn't stop moving the whole day. It started out with an 8am alarm call, and we were out of the hotel and on the road by nine.
Over to the station at Fortress Hill for the short journey to Central Station. From there, we made our way to the peak tram service and bought the ticket that included the tram and access to the viewing platform for only $65.
The tram works it's way up over 350 metres on an incline of unto 45 degrees and you sometimes get the feeling that you are on the beginning section of a roller coaster, just before it's about to speed you around the track.
The views from the summit over Hong Kong Bay and Kowloon are spectacular, an provide for some amazing photo opportunities. The photos speak for themselves and it's almost impossible to do justice to them with words alone
We then board the tram at leisure for the return journey, which seems to take half the time to go down from the peak as it took to get up there and make our way through Central by foot to the Star Ferry Pier where we will catch a ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui on the Kowloon side. The ferry is so cheap at $2.50 that you wonder if you have bought the right ticket.
The crossing is quick and we are soon in Kowloon and take a walk along the front that takes in the Clock Tower, the Olympic Torch and the Avenue of Stars. These are great to see, as are the views back to the Hong Kong skyline but the heat really is unbearable so we beat a retreat into the air conditioned Harbour City Mall for a browse and cool down before taking the ferry back to Central where we get a train (in rush hour) back towards the hotel where we relax our feet and cool our sunburn, ready for tomorrow, our last day in Hong Kong, and our connection on to New Zealand
