Day 5 Uluru/Olgas Another early start (4.30am) so that we could make it to the Rock for sunrise. Day 4 Uluru A 3.30am start, apparently so that we could make it all the way to Uluru, about 800kms through the outback. Although the bus was pretty uncomfortable and the driving was long, we really enjoyed seeing the red centre and getting a feel for the vast-ness of Australia. Day 3 Coober Pedy Another early start (4.30am) so that we could make good time on the long drive to Coober Pedy, an Opal mining town in the middle of nowhere. On the way we stopped at Lake Hart, a dried up salt lake, where we spent a lot of time and a lot of camera memory space taking arty photos of eachother and the scenery. Day 2 Flinders Ranges/Wipena Pound Knowing that we'd be staying in the same place again this evening, we left all unessential items, took lots of water/sunscreen/hats etc and headed off for a long day of walking and sight-seeing. First was a stop at an old sheep-station, which is now pretty run down. Interesting to see the buildings and find out about how settlers a couple of hundred years ago lived. Central Australia Trip Day 1 Adelaide to Quorn The day started with a very early registration and then it was on to the bus to head off up the middle of Australia.
