After an overnight cruise to Floreana Island - and very little sleep for anyone due to not having gained our sea legs yet - we hit Cormorant Point.
No cormorants, but the first sighting of the famous Blue Footed Boobie was had. No infantile jokes made of course. Ahem.
What else did we see? Sea lions on the beach - it's amazing how quickly you get used to the fact you are a couple of feet away from them (sorry, I mean a couple of metres, Mr Galapagos Policeman). Three flamingos. The hunt for flamingos became a running joke.
And we went paddling with sting rays. Yes, standing calf deep in surf whilst many sting rays of varying size are washed around our feet. Has Steve Irwin taught us nothing? It was a little disconcerting.
In the afternoon we went snorkelling around the Devil's Crown, the rim of an old volcano. First encounter with white tip reef sharks (gulp) and swimming with sea lions (brilliant fun, they are really playful). Oh, and a handful of close encounters with turtles too. Loads of other amazing fish of course.
Brilliant day indeed.
