From Alice Springs, we arrived at Adelaide airport bang on time to be greeted by Helen's uncle. We then headed to his house for some Chinese before getting dropped off at Helen's cousin, Shannon's house.
The following day, as both Shannon and Rob (Shannon's bf) were working we had a day to fill so we headed into Adelaide, where we met up with Nicks old boss for lunch and he kindly took us on a little tour of Adelaide. Adelaide is a pretty little town, but it certainly doesn't have a city feel to it like London or any other major city. It's so tiny, it's easy to navigate around without a map!
Helen's other cousin Lauren and her boyfriend Jay joined us all for dinner where we were all completely stuffed at the end of the meal. We seriously have been overfed since arriving in Perth...not good at all!
The next morning, Shannon, Rob and us two headed into Hahndorf, a pretty little German town in the hills with traditional houses, cool craft shops and lots of foodie shops. We had some traditional German fare for lunch before heading to Penfolds winery for a tour and some wine tasting. Needless to say we walked off with more bottles of wine!!!
Both of us had dinner at Lauren's and spent the rest of the evening playing scattergories, with the Gillespie girls winning the games! :)
The following day, the first stop was the Botanic Gardens, where we visited a huge greenhouse kinda like the Eden Project in Cornwall only it's closing down due to lack of funding so everything was either dead or dying...there was also a water lily exhibition which we visited. Helen's aunt and uncle then joined us for the Australia Wine Centre - god we're pros now after doing two wine tours and now this...then Haighs Chocolate Factory - where Helen bought more chocolate-y goodies! The last stop of the day was the Central Market where there were lots of stalls and free samples kinda like Borough Market but cheaper (surprisingly).
On our last full day in Adelaide we just chilled out, Helen went to the dog park with her cousins - it was absolutely crazy as the dogs were either fighting, sprinting, flirting or wanting to have sex with each other. In the evening, the whole family got together for a meal at an all you can eat place - both of us well and truly stuffed. (we need to go on a detox....and soon....)
Shannon and Rob dropped us off at the airport where we got our car for the next 4 days, an absolute bargain as it was a relocation deal $5 a day!
A major THANK YOU to the Adelaide branch of Gillespie's for making our stay a very welcoming one :)

Carole Gillespie Love hearing about your travels. When we visited Hahndorf it was beautiful as set up for Xmas. When I look at your pics it is surprising how many pics are of u two eating. Nick keep looking after her even though their might not be the same need for killing cockroaches. Xxx
