Howdy!
I have a quick 20 minutes of internet time left so thought I'd better get in touch! Details may be a little thin on the ground as it all seems like such a long time ago now!
After Koh Pagnan (and a rather dissapointing Black Moon Party on the beach) we headed to Koh Samui. Air conditiioning at last!!! After speaking to a few people, it seems we've done really well coping with the cheaper fan rooms at most places as everyone else has had to get the air conditioned ones! Koh Samui was lovely, busier than where we were on Koh Pagnan but that was ok. An Aussie guy we got chatting to one night said that it was so quiet compared to previous years he'd been there. We had a good night out though in a Swedish bar, and avoided the many prositutes that lined the street!
We then headed to Ko Phi Phi which involved a couple of buses and a couple of boats! What a mission. Well worth it though. Phi Phi is a beautiful island - paradise. We stayed in a big resort but quite a basic room with the crappest fan ever. We went to a Reggae bar that had a kick boxing ring in it and they encourgaed visitors to get in the ring and 'fight' for a bucket! Some were stupid enough to do it, including some girls. They were kitted out in proper helmets and stuff and did well actually. It made for entertaining viewing anyway. We saw some semi-pro fights too and I have to say it's pretty brutal, especially when the loser is finished off with an elbow to the face! Ouch! After that we headed to a beach party which is where I obtained my foot injury that I still have. Guess that's what you get for running into the sea in the dark when the tides gone out leaving razor sharp rocks exposed. Somewhere out there, a chunk of my foot is floating around! Still carried on dancing on the table once a good samaritan had poured medical alcohol on it and strapped it up!
The following day we went on a fab boat trip all around the Island and to another near by. We did snorkelling and Kayaking and stayed out there until the sun had gone down with a very lively bunch of Asia students. That was a really good day - injury aside!
Next on the list was Phuket which we weren't keen on. It was like going to Benidorm and after being on the kind of Islands that we had - we wern't impressed! The hotel we stayed at however was gorgeous! Pool and everything!! Caroline got her first tatoo done there too so she was sooo excited. And we had our first taste of Coconut juice from a chilled coconut. If you ever get the chance - don't bother. I'd spent 6 weeks wanting to try it and it tasted like dirty dish water!!
Anyway, we flew back to Singapore the following day just for one day. Nothing much happened there, just a stop over in a really friendly hostel. The girl on reception cleaned my foot for me and strapped it up and again the morning we left! Bless her. They insisted on carrying our backpacks for us too - Fern Loft Hostel in Singapore, well worth staying at if you ever go there!
We arrived in Sydney on the 3rd April. I didn't even attempt to sleep on the overnight flight as I knew it was no good! Watched 2 films and 3 programmes though!
We have done all the usual sightseeing in Sydney but I will put that on my next blog as my time is about to run out!
Catch up with you all real soon with our Oz experiences!! Drunken and sobber!!!!
Hope all is well with everyone. Take care, Lots of love
