Hey everyone!
Sorry it's been a while, but the novelty of writing a blog wears off pretty quickly! I'll carry on where Nic left off last time......can't believe she's making me do this one! We spent a few days on the island of Koh Tao, staying in a beach hut fot little cost. We both did our diving course, which took 3 days to complete. It was an amazing experience, even if at the time i was a little nervous about it. The island was beautiful and we spent our nights chilling out in the beach front bars.
We then moved on to Koh Phi Phi, which was the worst hit place when the Tsunami hit asia. They've done so much work rebuildind and the place is like paradise. We spent our days tanning on the beach and getting some much needed R&R. We also found a bar that had a ladyboy show upstairs and a kicknoxing ring downstairs where punters can fight each other to win a bucket of booze! Needless to say, we drank an awful lot this night and paid for it the next day!
From there, we have travelled throgh Malaysia, stopping at Penang, Kuala Lumphar and Melaka. Malaysia is more touristy than anywhere else we've visited and we both feel it loses a lot of charm because of it. We did however do all the touristy things in Kuala Lumphar.....the twin towers, the KL Tower etc. We also travelled from here to spend a couple of days in the rainforest. We had high hopes for this, but again it was too touristy and lost it's appeal.
We've spent the last few days in Singapore, which well and truly lives up to the hype. We found a little hostel to stay in, then explored the Little India district. We found ourselves a nice restaurant and chilled out on our first night. Apologies to Nic for the aftermath of my very hot curry! The next day we went to Orchard Road, which is their equivalent to Oxford Road. I had to keep Nic on a leash as there were Gucci, Armani, Luis Vuitton and Prada shops everywhere!(No, you don't need a pair of Jimmy Choos to trekk in Nic!) We had a ROMANTIC picnic in the Botanic Gardens, then returned to our hostel to prepare for our evening. Our evening consisted of Singapore Slings at Raffles Hotel, Tapas food on the Riverside and drinks in swanky bars with the Singapore elite! You've gotta let your hair down once in a while! Speaking of hair....I've had all mine shaved off! Anyway.........we are preparing ourselves for the next stage of our travels...Australia. We have booked our first room sharing accommodation! We'll update once we get going in Oz. G'day to you all.
