We arrived in Anaheim by Greyhound bus at around 7pm on the 15th July and checked in to our hotel, which is just two blocks from Disneyland. We've both been to Disneyworld in Florida and Disneyland in Paris so we knew to expect crowds when we made it to the theme park the next morning - a Saturday in July! On our last couple of days on the bus tour we went to a Mormon temple in Salt Lake City (yes, they tried to convert us), Bingham Copper Mine in Utah and finally back to Las Vegas for our last night - this time in the Stratosphere which meant we got free access to their observation tower and a pretty incredible view of the Las Vegas skyline at night - before being dropped off in LA so that we could get to our hostel in Hollywood. On day three of our bus tour we travelled to the Crazy Horse Memorial and on to Mount Rushmore. Both were impressive although the Crazy Horse Memorial will blow Mount Rushmore out of the water once it is eventually finished as it will be much much bigger. Unfortunately it is unlikely that the remaining 80% or so will be finished in our lifetime. Somehow the fireworks evaded us on 4th July. We stood outside Caesar's Palace with what felt like the rest of the Vegas for over an hour and absolutely sod all happened, even though everyone expected a display at 9pm. We settled for cocktails and ridiculously cheap bowling instead ($1 a game as it was the graveyard shift, after midnight).
