Hi everyone.
I have made it to Salta, which is in the North West of Argentina, after a 23 hour coach journey. Seriously! I was lucky it was on time really. The bus which went the dy before was several hours late and the food served was worse than mine! I fond the hostel I had booked and the first people I saw were some people from my last hostel in Iguazu who had moved on a day before.
The day before I left Iguazu I went to the Brazilian side of the waterfalls which again was spectacular. Whereas in the Argentinian side you can get up and personal with the falls, the Brazillian side is all about the panorama. It was only a couple of hours for the trip really because we didnt go into the Jungle and walk at all. Far too hot for that.
I am COVERED in mossie bites from the two days - I counted to 100 then decided I didnt want to know any more! When we got back from the falls I went for a run to explore the town and then shared Sabbah with all the Isrealis in the hostel which was very cool.
Salta is really nice and pretty but there isnt much to do. Quite colonial with a nice park and market. There is amazing cake though! I had a HUGEMONGUS piece earlier - triple decker of chocolate, vanilla and chocolate. And inbetween was cream and apricots on one level and dulce de leche (sort of spreadable fudge) in the other. For 2.5 pesos. There are 6 pesos of the pound!!!
Took a gondala up the hill and saw the view which was special. All around are green green mountains.
Dont have any plans for tonight but tomorrow I am going rafting! and then the overnight bus to La Quica. Arrive there and cross into Bolivia at about 9am on tuesday morning. Going to do that with the people I bumped into at this hostel from the other one so that should be nice. Plus the bus journey is only 7 hours! Piece of cake!
Happy Valentines to everyone. xxxxxx

Grannie Hi, found you on the map. It looks a bit hilly round about Salta . Hope I found the right spot. Are the mossies as big as the Scottish ones? if not don't worry about them. Pleased you've found folks to hang out with. Have fun rafting. Did it at Yosemite and the raft sprung a leak but that was 30yrs ago. THE RAFTS ARE MORE SOPHISTICATED NOW. Lots of Love, Grannie.
