Hello again! So today has so far been no where near as exciting as yesterday. I had a good sleep in the hotel last night, but didn't have the chance to visit the spa, which was a shame. On the plus side, it seems that I have magically worked out how to use the Tokyo metro, but this still did not stop me getting lost looking for my new hostel. After some help from a (useless) taxi driver, a policeman, a delivery boy and the YMCA's receptionist I finally found the place. At least the weather today has been fantastic and I got to have a good look around the area!
So I moved into this place called the Tenten Guest House, which is dirt cheap but not exactly confidence inspiring. Spent my first hour in the place having a shower and dividing my things into stuff I cannot afford to leave lying about and putting these in a bag to be carried with me at all times, and the rest of the stuff into my hike bag to be left at the hostel. The place itself is cozy enough, I have a Tatami mat bed on the floor and some curtains to divide off the main room, and so what with the bunk above me I have my own little cubical hehe! I would recommend the place to braver people who are on a tight budget!
Tonight I am going out to see Atsuko, a friend of my Dad's cousin Yvonne, and someone I have not seen for a decade, so that should be really good! We are going to place that used to harbor a world war era black market, but now has lots of small stalls and places to eat, like a smaller version of Camden in London before the fire. Details to follow tomorrow, if my laptop doesn't get nicked!!
