Today was a full days drive from Jodhpur to Jaipur. It was a long drive as we came across several traffic jams involving hundreds of trucks. OMG the traffic in India is unbelievable. It was sad to say goodbye to Jaisalmer this morning as I have really enjoyed our short stay in the Golden City but today we travel to Jodhpur. Today was our guided tour of Jaisalmer with Puri (nicknamed by us Fagan). First stop was to the man made Gadhisar Lake full of catfish that are fed by visitors. Then off to explore the Fort which is built along with rest of the city from golden sandstone, hence the name the Golden City. This is the largest fort in India that is still inhabited and working. After packing up our final camel camp this morning and saying farewell to our musicians Kishan & Atum we walked into the village of Jamba to visit the home of the chief M.P. Singh. We were welcomed into his home and his daughters painted henna designs onto Deb and my palms and then dressed us up into some of their traditional clothing for some photos. Not a bad nights sleep in our tents after a long day in the saddle, we were woken at six o'clock with a cup of tea delivered to our tent door. After breakfast we walked to visit a local family home (dunny or butt hut) This was the home of family members of Harji (cheeky camel handler) the home consisted of three butt huts, one a store room, one a kitchen that also they use to sleep in during winter and one bedroom.
