Arrived in Perpignan in the evening, drove round the town to check it out; another charming town. We walked around and had dinner. The following morning we dropped off our hire car and took the 9.00am train to Barcelona.
We have spent our last evening with Steph who will go her separate way, checking out of the hotel room at 11am and catching the midday train also to Barcelona.
The train trip from Perpignan to Barcelona took about 3 and a half hours and the scenery along the way was breathtaking in parts, passing little villages in mountainous regions where glimpses of ancient buildings surrounding the village chapel could be seen. The glimpses of the coast with small village boat marinas made a picturesque sight.
At the French / Spanish border the spanish customs police came on board to check our passports, once they were satisfied that all on board had complied with custom requirements, the train was allowed to proceed onto Barcelona.
The trip was pleasant and not too long, there were dining facilities on board and allocated seating was comfortable. A pleasant journey into Spain.
