May 20th (Thursday) - Day 81 - Noosa
After a nice lay in we jumped on the Bus to Noosa. We arrived at 3pm checked into our hostel and pottered around town. We headed for the beach to watch the surfers. The surf was quite high and the waves were smashing into the rocks on the beach with some mighty force. We then walked over to Noosa junction to have a look around there. That evening we joined the welcome meeting (only because of the free wine) and then sat and watched TV in the bar. Sarah got talking to a German bloke but I could not hear him to well so entertained myself.
May 21st (Friday) - Day 82 - Noosa (Australia Zoo)
Got up (blah blah blah) and jumped on the bus to the zoo. Crikey! That word ruled my day! The zoo is run by Steve Irwin's (the croc hunter) family and they are carrying it on in his name. On the bus there we watched a documentary about Steve's life and legacy. Once there we did not have to pay for tickets as the bus company had given them to us for free. Once in the zoo we saw millions of crocodiles and it soon became clear how much Steve was missed. They then put on a show in the "crocoseum". It started with snakes and birds then they brought out the main attraction. A huge crocodile came in from out the back through the waterways. The zoo keepers were attracting it with vibrations. Once it was in the main area it took them ages to get it to do anything but once they did the croc jumped out the water for its food. They then could not get it to leave again! We then went and feed some Kangaroos in there massive enclosure. It really tickled while they took the food. We then saw the rest of the zoo (elephants, tigers, red panda's etc etc) We then rode around on the land train before catching the end of the 2nd croc show. This croc was better as it did what the keepers wanted it to do including jumping right out of the water to get its food. I felt a bit sorry for his kids because it seems as if they are being forced to carry on the legend and being forced into doing lots of TV shows and merchandise etc. We caught the bus back and watched another show. We then meet the German guy and an Israeli girl and spent the night correcting the German guys English for him.
