HAPPY NEW YEAR!
How is new year going so far? Really good i hope! What did you get up to? Well my hogmanay was pretty much a blur! Decided that i hadn't been drunk this entre trip so if i drink these shots i bought i'll be fine, strangely enough i wasn't! Remember sitting out on the beach front, meetin loads of people in the park and then dancing around with sparklers but that's about it! Rob was working all night and had an unfortunate drunken visit from me! Apparently i skipped all the way to the pub and was refused by the bouncer until i cried and told him i was Scottish, so he let me in! Anyway, Vicki and Liz had come looking for me and dragged me to bed, never going to hear the end of that.....!
The park is VERY busy at the mo, fully booked for a whole 3 weeks so we're all working away Last week some guy came up to the office and said he'd spotted a snake going into a tent, it was a huge brown snake, really poisonous apparently, pete had to chop it's head off and even then it still moved about!! No way will i ever camp in this country, also seen my first HUGE spider, honestly it was the size of my hand! Huntington spider i think it's called! Gads! weather has not been the greatest - cyclone heading up the coast towards us at the mo, making things a bit windy!
So what have i been up to..... went to visit a brewery yesterday, there are 2 in this area that make their own different beer, really nice actually! managed to sample most of them! Also went to a chocolate factory and made myself sick with all the tasting, so good though. Went a drive down to Augusta last week, was such a beautiful coastal town with a lighthouse which looks onto where the Southern and Indian oceans meet, not really a lighthouse fan but you get amazing views of the coastline. This region of WA is really famous for their wineries ahd they are EVERYWHERE, haven't had to chance to spend time at one yet but definitely planning that soon. Sheep farming is one of the main industries in this area so i had to go visit one of the working farms! It also meant that i could buy some genuine aussie ugg boots!
OH met a women on the park yesterday, she is the principal at a high school in Perth, when i told her i was a geography teacher she was so excited as she'd been looking for one for ages! Pity i didn't apply for that visa , it would have been a post for 6 months though so maybe if i decide to come back................!
Anyway, hope all is well with everyone, thanks for all the emails and messages!
All the best for 2007
Lots of love
Nikki and Robert xx
