So today I had tickets for the Jay Leno Show on NBC, usually some good celebs. The taping was not 'till 3pm tho, so I headed to out to Orange County for the morning. Yes, exactly where The O.C. is filmed, except it's not filmed on Newport Beach, it's filmed mostly at Redondo Beach, equally as nice.
So I started a little further north, at Manhattan Beach. Totally 'yummy mummy' seaside town. All the new mums jogging along the beach with their babies in the pushchairs in front!
So, having pottered around there for a little bit, I wanted to go to Rendondo, and apparently there's this shuttle that connects the three beaches down there. (The other being Hermosa where Britney has just bought a new house!). So as I went to the stop to wait for the shuttle, this American guy starts yapping away how they're meant to come every 20 mins but he'd been waiting an hour and a half. Patience not being one of my strong points I was like 'b***** this for a laugh', and thought I'd walk. The American guy found this hilarious, and I told him American's were weird and never walked anywhere. He was like 'you know it's almost 3 miles to Hermosa alone?'. It's hardly a marathon is it?! And he's been waiting an hour and a half!
Anyway, he was like 'I suppose you could bike it', and pointed out a bike hire shop opposite. Og my God it was so much fun, cycling the 6 miles or so to Rendondo. Amazing weather and fresh sea air.
Had been cycling for a while tho and although the cycle path is right beside the beach, I was a little worried I may have missed it. But then, I spot the 'Bait Shop' (Club type place in The O.C.), very exciting, so I knew I was there.
So, I saw that, and 'the diner' (not actually a diner, but a run down coffee shop type place), and the pier and the beach. Apparently the Cohan house is actually all the way over in Malibu.
So, half way through all this fun, I realised I would have to start heading back to get to the taping of Jay Leno. But (i think) due to the writers' strike at the mo, there haven't seen great guests recently. So just in case, I called. Good job I did as it was two guys I'd never heard of (although this producer guy assured me that one 'was a very very famous American historian' - really?! Firstly, does that make me more likely to have heard of him and secondly, what kind of "historian" goes on the Jay Leno Show?!)
So decided to cancel them and stay at the beach as it was so pretty.
Eventually I did start heading back to Hollywood, but not before stopping at Robertson Blvd and Rodeo Drive. Both apparently celeb shopping heaven. Also noticed they are next door to the hospital that Britney was taken to last week, and where Nicole and Christina had their babies last month. Hmmmm.
Anyway, after that I headed to Hollywood Blvd for the premiers of Paris Hilton's latest 'movie'. Ironically in this one it's all about her NOT having sex (untill her token ugly friend gets some!).
It was so exciting seeing Paris, and her mummy Cathy was there too. Love it.
