Kia Ora everybody!!
I know I left you all hanging on wot the Glacier HeliHike on Sunday wud be like... it was fantastic! The helicopter ride alone was well worth the money, we flew up over the mountains and across the glacier, flying scross the top of it pretty close to all the ice towers and walls! We got dropped off at about 2km from the main ice wall and got geared up with our cramp-ons (could be clamp-ons tho...), and we split into 2 seperate groups of 11. I went into the smaller group and had Thai for my guide. He was fantastic, we had a little practice with our spikey shoes then headed off! They gave us so much confidence which was brilliant! It was so exhilarating hiking over ice masses and glacial rivers! We also went thru ice caves and squeezed thru caverns and chasms in the ice! So fun, and the scenery was spectacular! Janet had a little slip and it was hilarious... thank God she was laughing too tho lol. We had a little rest on the ice before heading back down to the helicopter to leave. I had enjoyed it so much that I wanted to go straight back up again!!
Monday brought us to a little town called Wanaka. Our first stop was Lake Matheson where we did a little walk and saw the relfection of Mount Tasman and Mount Cook in the water! It was gorgeous! Once we got back to the bus my back was killing me from the Glacier Hike so I popped 2 expensice painkillers and slept most of the way to Wanaka! We stopped at Thunder Creek Falls and had a short dander, the falls were cool too! Wanaka was pretty nice once we got there but quite cold. We went and had a look at the cinema to see Sex and the City but it wasn't showing in the cinema so we just spent the night watching TV and some movies!!
Tuesday we headed to Queenstown but not before stopping at Puzzling World and AJ Hacketts Secrets of Bungy tour! Puzzling World was definitely puzzling... we walked thru a giant maze then went to the 4 Illusion Rooms which were a lot of fun actually!! Almost bought a lot of puzzles lol but I restrained myself! The Secrets of Bungy tour was quite informative and almost made me wanna jump... but no lol. Then we reached Queenstown which is definitely a lot smaller than I had expected!! Luckily they have a cinema here and I got to see Sex and the City... it was brilliant, but made me miss all my girls at home!!!
Wednesday (today) was a free day in Queenstown and I just relaxed and chilled. We went up the Gondola which was pretty scary for me... its a cable car but it went up like 450m which is a lot!! But once we got to the top the views were absolutely spectacular!! All the pictures just don't do it justice!! Tonight we're planning on going to the World Bar to drink cocktails from teapots... that should be an interesting one! Then tomorrow its off to Dunedin, starting off the Bottom Bus tour, so I'm not sure when I'll next be able to update, tho something tells me its not gonna be as remote as East As!!
Love and miss you all xxx
