hello there, i know its slack service here!!ive been too busy. So...beijing, seems so long ago now! we went on the great wall on the tuesday, it was absolutely amazing, but i have never been so tired in all my life!! It was the hottest day so far and we set off bright and early for our 3 1/2 hour bus journey to get there, en route i realised id forgotten to charge my video camera which upset m abit. when we arrived i was amazed, up in the hills you could see the wall, when our guide xin told us we were gonna walk all the way up there i didnt believe him!! wrong!!
we set off on our adventure and i thought i was gonna pass out straight away, it was really steep slopes for about 15 minutes and no air before we even reached thae start of the wall. There are loads of people selling things along the wall an dthats where i met the lady!! She followed me for bloomin ages, fanning me, which was quite nice, talking at me an dtrying to pull me up the steep and/or tiny steps!! (although she did dtop me from falling backwards 3 times!) when we met the others xin our guide and one of the guys dave managed to get her to leave me aloe, after her lurking in the dark in one of the towers waiting for me!! wwe began to climb again and the dteps were so steep i\me and one of the girls sarah were using our hands too!! we were all very red and swaety when we reached the first really amazing view. we left everybody as they went off ahead and decided to walk it together.
on the journey up the sides of the wall are no longer there and its just a sheer drop either side which terrified me and i began to suffer vertigo!! whcih also resulted in hysterical laughter! tony of course sat on the side, legs dangled over loving it!! we reached the 3rd tower from the end and had to stop, my legs were like jelly and i didnt wanna ruin the fun id had so we sat at a stall and had a beer and waited for the others!! very us i think!! trying to take in the view was so hard, panoramic views of the wall, mountains and a small village were just breathtaking, i cant even describe how we felt, it was an unforgettable experience, so worth the effort! the descent wasnt too bad, although our jelly legs made it quite difficult and my ankle overturned but we got down safely after an amazing experience.
the day after we went to tianamen square and the forbidden city and im afraid we dont have much to say. we personally didnt enjoy it that much, altough tone liked the clock museum!! it looked better from the temple than being in there, altogh it was still a good experience.
we love china, and it keeps getting better!!!
