My journey to Sydney started on Fri 25 Nov, I left Chaing Mai and flew from Chaing Mai airport down to Bangkok airport to get my connecting flight onto Sydney. The flight down ti bangkok was pretty cheap, so was worth it to save on travelling time, plus i was a bit worried about how the flooding in bangkok was affecting buses and trains etc. Flight was fine really, took 9/10 hours but got fed and free wine which was great! Arrived in Sydney Sat 26th Nov morning ...

The bus from Chiang Rai on Sat 19th Nov took just 3.5 hours to Chiang Mai and on the bus I met a lovely Japanese girl, Ena, so we chatted most of the way. When we arrived in Chiang Mai Ena & I shared a tuk tuk for a pound each into the centre and got left off by the Tae Pae Gate, which is quite central Chaing Mai. Dandered around, in the light which was a bonus and found a great wee hostel called 'Little birds Guesthouse' which is 2 pounds per night for a 4b...

So I arrived in Chiang Rai Thursday 17th Nov at 7.30pm after a very kind lift from a Thai girl Mary and her husband as I had missed the last bus from the Chiang Kong border. I had no accomodation booked, as that tends to be what I am doing now, but was a little tricky trying to find somewhere in the dark that didnt overcharge! Got quoted some expensive prices, so I presisted and kept walking, eventually finding ' Y Y Ti Amo' Guesthouse. right by the Golden Clock ...

Journey from Laos into Thailand via the Chiang Kong border after Muang Sing hilltribe homestay.... Left Luang Namtha midday ish afer enjyoing a free hot shower in a cafe in Luang Namtha (was in desperate need after cycling and village homestay!!). I left Luang Namtha on Tues 15th Nocv midday, solo, heading further north in Laos, for a place called 'Muang Sing', described in my guide book as a 'full on backpackers haven' with wonderful guesthouses and perfect for trecking and hilltribe village stays. Was very excited to arrive in this wee place, however when arrived off the short 2 hour bus jounrey, it was a very very small little down with very dindgey accomodation ha! Hadnt pre booked accomodation so walk...
