Checked out of our first hotel after another stunning breakfast and warm start. We travelled to Tirta Gangga (water of the Ganges) a sacred water palace built in the 20th century by the last king of Karangasem. A stunningly beautiful place with hundreds of fishes including massive Koi carp.... We fed them crackers and they followed us as we walked on the maze of stepping stones until the food ran out. After a restless nights sleep (for some!) we headed for breakfast by the sea and enjoyed croissants and banana pancakes. We were met at reception by our guide at around 0830 and off we went on our adventures for the day. Our first port of call was The King's floating palace and law courts.... Very ornate and beautiful surroundings. I learned about grafting having seen some of the multicoloured bushes and peter enjoyed learning about the practice of placing saro...

Still awake.... Peter peacefully sleeping (lucky thing) I've just been sitting outside our little apartment with a beer and a packet of Pringles listening to the sound of the sea in the lovely warm night air. Back to bed now for some sleeping......

Arrived at 1230 to lovely hot sunshine after 24 hours travelling. Met by our lovely guide who will be looking after us for the next 8 days. Learned lots about Balinese culture on the journey towards our first stop Including the casts of Bali, some etiquette and the slightly different style of driving they have here!!
