Hello All -

I'm desperately trying to get caught up on my blog entries and I will by the end of the week I promise.

The actual date I went to Brugge was 15 April 2008

After breaking off from Helen, Laura and Allison I went to the train station in order to catch a train to Brugge. I ended up waiting for about an hour and then taking the train to Antwerpen and waiting another hour for another train. Traveling was long but it was so worth it. Brugge is an adorable little city filled with chocolate shops and tea house. All of the streets are cobblestone and you can take a horse and carriage ride around the town if you want to. All of the displays in the chocolate shop windows were incredible and it was hard to believe that everything was made out of chocolate. I only had about 3 hours in Brugge and I had to leave time to walk to and from the train station but it was just enough time to give me a quick look at an incredible town. I stopped in to a Sorbeterie for a quick bite to eat and some tea. I ordered Chamomile tea and a waffle with jam and butter. The tea came first. There was a pot of tea and a teacup on a tray with little bowls of: Grapefruit sorbet, whipped cream, a chocolate egg and hunks of sugar. It was so delicious. The grapefruit sorbet was incredible and the whipped cream was to die for. My waffle arrived soon after and I must say it was the absolute best Waffle I've ever had. It was light and airy and so incredibly delicious. It was all relatively inexpensive too which was an added bonus. After my bite to eat I unfortunately had to go to the train station for the long ride home.

I arrived back at the castle around 11:30 to an empty room which was strange because I assumed Laura and Allison would be back by then. As it turns out they didn't come back until late the next day because they stayed with Helen in Amsterdam so she wouldn't oversleep and miss her flight back to Boston.

My overall impressions of Brugge are very positive. I really liked the atmosphere there and I think it would be an excellent place to live or maybe to retire to, HA I can't even think about retirement though because I haven't even had a real job yet. One day Brugge you will be my home. Promise.
