After a lightning fast trip to Malaysia we had to get our pre-booked flights to Bali. It seemed a shame to be leaving Malaysia so soon, but maybe leaving so early is a good thing, it makes me determined to get back there for a good month or so sometime soon!

First reactions of Bali seem to fulfil every negative thing people have said, getting shouted at by dozens of taxi drivers as we exit departures, asking for 3 times the general taxi price. We eventually found one who agreed to the correct price, third time lucky! We're staying in Kuta for the first few nights, it's meant to be the 'lively' side of the island, so naturally is not our scene. It feels a little like we've gone back to Phi Phi, but with fewer bars and lightshows, although we haven't seen the beach yet so I'm sure there is worse to come!

We've got a cute little guest house and managed to get a Caesar salad dinner (Yum!), so all set for the night. Will go exploring tomorrow, with hopefully an open mind. We don't know what we want to do on the island yet, if it's worth going up to the gilli Islands, or just staying on the mainland. Sometimes playing it by ear is the most fun :)
