Hello everyone! We have arrived in the good old US of A and are actually in our hotel which is 2 blocks away from Sunset Boulevard. We are in the 'junior suite' of the Magic Castle Hotel - which basically means we have a big room with a kitchen and dining area as well as 2 QUEEN SIZE BEDS!!!! With the best pillows ever.
The flight was long but actually took minus 8 hours because we crossed the international date line and technically went back in time! The shuttle drive from LAX to Hollywood took a further hour so we were pretty exhausted by the time we arrived. We were still also discovering parts of the South Pacific beach about our bodies, so we took it in turns to have a shower and feel human again. We were greeted here with a glass of sparkling lemonade in a champagne flute and a list of the complimentary drinks / chocolates / crisps that we will / are taking full advantage of!
After doritos, skittles and Hershey bars, water and Diet Pepper drinks we walked out onto the walk of fame. There were various street performers and dressed up people which was really strange - you walk down the street with superman and superwoman, have a chat with the tin man and meet a very drunk pirate from the Caribbean! Dad also tripped over Marilyn Monroe's star when he was looking into McDonalds to see if we could buy Ami anything! We went for dinner in a proper American diner called Johnny Roscoe's Hamburgers which was a lot of fun and i felt like i was on TV! It was a bit like 'Happy Days' Dad says, but i don't have a clue what he's on about there! We also saw them filming the American version of 'Ten years younger' in the square - you could walk through but there were signs saying you might be on TV if you did. We then had a massive pancake each for pudding in the French Crepe cafe. Mine had strawberries and sugar on it (try it Lydia its really nice!!) and Dad's had banana and chocolate syrup.
On the way in, we walked past the Tin Man, who complimented me on my 'Dorothy braids' and on the way back he waved at me - so I think i've made a friend there. We also chatted with superman on the way back to the hotel.
Tonight we will again make full use of the complimentary mini bar and DVDs and are planning to watch Castaway and see where we recognise (and nearly died!).
Lots of love,
Naomi and Stuart x
