We had two nice days in Port Douglas, not doing very much, just chilling. And we did one more wildlife tour which was very different from the first. We saw some exciting animals, including a tree kangaroo on a tea plantation, a platypus in the river with two other adult platypuses swimming nearby, a mummy and baby possum, all in the wild. It was a long day but interesting.. That morning, slightly oddly a young woman knocked on our door and asked if we had a spare toothbrush. She had apparently just arrived and thought it was appropriate to ask a complete stranger if she could borrow one. I know I said these Aussies are friendly, but we did think that might be a step too far!
On Friday we flew down to Adelaide and had a shock with cold rain but it didn’t last long. Oddly, we had a delicious evening meal at Jamie’s Italian in a stunning old bank building....
And today we picked up the RV and set off on the big road trip. Not the best of starts, we’re staying at a virtually empty park, with no facilities to talk of, beside an empty motor racing track. Hopefully, things can only get better
