Time for an update!
The past 2 weeks I've been staying/working in Bangkok. We were meant to be here for 2 days, but as usual we became attached and decided to stay.
The first day we arrived was the first day of the riots, and I don't ever want to see what I saw when we got into Khao San Road again. It was hard enough getting there due to thousands of thais walking around in red shirts and bats, however we pushed through and thought it could be a 'good experience'. So we checked in and took a walk down the usually tourist jam packed street but now about 5 people road. We got to the bottom and we were nearly blown over by the smell- i've smelt some pretty grim things (eh hem edward), but this was definitely worse i cant even begin to describe it! Anyway we saw this patch which had kind of been cornered off, so we wandered on over. There was blood all over the road and we were then told 2 people had just been shot and killed there hours earlier. GREAT START TO BANGKOK.
The next day after much deliberation, we decided to wait it out. We bought a red head band and headed into the streets- if you can't beat them, join them- we were greeted like long lost sisters.
That night it went from riots and shooting to parties and water fights, only in thailand. The riots moved away and so we stayed for the next 5 days of continuous water fights, by the end of the week we were wrinkled prunes. This is where we shot to fame. We were the dancers for a club and made it onto the front page of bangkok, thailand and hong kongs main papers- people came up to us asking for pictures with us HA-HA, don't worry, i'll remember the little people.
After the water festival FINALLY finished, we decided that the club would give us a job. It might be one of the easiest jobs in the world. We get paid to talk to people, drink and get thai massages. What more could you want? After our first night of work, the owner of the club took us shopping until 5am and told us to buy whatever we wanted, HELLO!
Last night we had drinks with the Thai King's spokesman and we've been invited to the queens birthday. If I don't come home please don't blame me!
Anyway, there's only so much time you can spend in bangkok so today we're leaving for Koh Phangnan for the full moon party, the 15 hour bus journey sounds wonderful!
