Across southern Africa
The morning brought us the thick mist of the Atlantic fog covering all with dampness, a change from the dryness of the desert up to now. Once packed up, we continued on through the desolate but starkly beautiful landscape. Occasional signs pointing to this canyon or that settlement, handpainted words on vertical pieces of slate. Welcomingly, at least a couple pointed us to Palmwag, our destination, an established resort in the concession. The Palmwag Concession has a long-established research and conservation program for the rhinos. Unfortunately we saw no rhinos on the journey there but we did see quite a large number of giraffe and Hartmann's Mountain Zebras.
