We have been to Etosha twice before, once in a wet season and once in the dry, and enjoyed it both times, so we were looking forward to it. The huge pan is empty and perfectly flat to the horizon but roads and tracks all around the southern rim lead to waterholes where, with a bit of patience, you can see the procession of all kinds of animals to and from. Elephants en masse, kudu, springbok, warthog, black-backed jackal, zebra, steenbok, wildebeest, ostrich, giraffe and much, much more though unfortunately no sightings of big cats this time. Night time around the waterhole right next to the campsite thrilled us with both a white rhino and a black rhino drinking and resting in the dark. Rhinos are quite boring creatures though and one can watch them for ages doing very little. But it was great to see both types together! I'll let the pictures speak - see the photos!
