hello...this will be the second time i have written this. i spent ages writing this yesterday but the computer crashed and i lost it all!! so here we go again....

i arrived wednesday 4pm local time after an 11hr flight with no leg room and stodgy plane food! i was sitting next to some nice people so that made the time go a bit quicker. the guy i was sat next to was fro new zealand so hopefullly if we keep in touch i can go to stay there...free room sonds great!

i got picked up from the airport with another guy who was with the same company as me but he was doing a different trip to me. it was nice to have somebody else with me....they drive like mainiacs in bangkok...there are no rules and even if there are they dont seem to follw them...the moped drivers are the worst with the whole family on the small bike.

the hotel that i stopped in bangkok was ok...it was clean at least-i think i was expecting luxury...not for 14punds a night! i am sharing with a girl called skye who is from wales and lovely. there are 2 other grils and 3 other guys on the trip with me-they are all realy nice and get on well with them.

we went out down the famous kho san road (not sure about the spelling) which is so busy and smelly ...as is the rest of bangkok but really great. it was halloween so everybody was dressed up and enjoying themselves. we then hit the club which was a great club with lots of aussie men...mmmm!!! we got in about 2am so god night was had...cheap food, cheap beer-what else can i ask for really!!

thursday we went on a boat ride around the city in a wooden shed thing which had an engine on it. he took us all through the areas with the houses built on stilts above th water...it eas really intertestig...so much so i fell asleep!

in the afternoon we caught the overnight train from bangkok to chiang mai where we are now. the journey was 13 hours long and very loud, smelly-its just as you expect with the pull down bunks. it was a long 13hours....especially sleeping on the top bunks where only two straps hold you in! the toilet was mingin....i dont think i need to say anymore about that!

so today i have been to an elephant show thing...which i didnt really enjoy...i just think they shouldnt be doing the tricks and thing...not great. we then went to a temple on the mountian above chiang mia...the taxi man took us in a jeep thingy which made your legs wobble as you got out...and i have found out that they dont drive much better here....overtaking at snails pace on a blind corner!!! that was really interesting and just really nice. you could see thw hole city from up there-beautiful

tomorrow is the begining of the trek. it is the cool season at the moment up here so it shouldnt be too hot thank god!!!

so i hope that this has worked as this once again has taken me ages to write!! i will try and get some picture on next wednesday when we are back in bagkok...i have taken a lot already!!!
