Sydney!
What a beautiful City! Being as we only had 3 days there (2 full ones) we did pretty well in accomplishing all we could. However the weather was not the best. Still sunny but quite chilly. We got a flight from Gold Coast to Sydney and stayed in Maze back-packers hostel. Everyone was lovely who worked there and were greeted by an English guy ....soon we would realize nearly everyone in Australia is English. We put our stuff in our room; bunk beds! Luckily char was happy to go on top (no pun intended) however there was no ladder so was a little amusing watching her struggle. We went for a walk as it was getting late already and had been given these vouchers from the hostel for free drinks, after not being able to find a Chinese without having to pay 26 dollars for rice! So went to this bar and got some food and wine, it was dark so we decided to go to the cinema to see Arthur. It’s a new film with Russell Brand and it was hilarious. To me and char anyway! We were cackling like witches all the way through it. “Hello mother I remember you from when I used to live in your womb!!”
The following day we were up early and bought a package for wildlife world, aquarium etc 4 places for50dollars. So off we went to Sydney Wildlife World; It was amazing we got to see Kangaroos, snakes, wallabies, birds, crocodiles and even had a picture taken with some gorgeous Koalas. Loved every minute of it. Next we headed to The aquarium next door, where we saw sharks (not the best) stingrays (so funny looked like ghosts) Penguins, dugongs which are now mine and chars favourite animal or mammal or whatever they are!! They were so cute and looked like they were smiling at us the whole time! We also saw a rock lobster...another stupid thing from family guy that kept us amused.
We had such a good day we decided to head over to see the Sydney harbor bridge and the Opera House. The ferry was good because the sun was still out so although windy it was warm. As we got to the dock we saw this guy setting up he had a bike and knives etc so we crowded round to watch, he got a few volunteers to help him hold stuff etc, he was crazy though everything he said made us laugh although he wasn’t trying to be he was just weird, he kept saying yeah? After every sentence and his voice was so dull it made us chuckle a lot. He got the volunteers to lie on the floor while he rode around them standing on the bike and juggling a chainsaw, Now like i said this guy was so strange and he kept dropping the saw inches from one of the guys face...I couldn’t watch although char was enjoying it then he got this big pole and got the bike on top of it and him on top of the bike juggling it again and fire. Again I couldn’t watch I was convinced he was suicidal and just wanted a crowd to kill himself in front of, however he managed it and everyone cheered, I was just relieved it was over although I would miss his annoying voice and random sayings! At one point he got this guy to hold a knife above his head and then he shouted out police police this guy has a knife!!! It was quite amusing. And he also pointed at this lady with bags and told us she was a shoplifter, was funny even if it doesn’t sound like it, especially when she looked really annoyed at us all laughing at her.
The bridge looked amazing but to be honest although the Sydney Opera House looked stunning at night, in the day it didn’t seem as amazing as what everyone made it out to be. Maybe that’s the problem with all the hype over certain things. Still it was amazing to see. It was getting a bit cold and got dark so quick that we headed for some wine and a roast dinner and were so shattered we nearly fell asleep halfway through. We headed to bed and got up early to make out way to Manly to go to the ocean world there, that wasn’t the best but was still a good day out we got to see more sharks etc and feed the fish and turtle. We then decided to get the ferry to Rose bay and then go on to Bondi Beach, however the wind was sooo cold and after waiting in rose bay bus station for 20 mins and no bus we gave up and headed back to town. We went to Sydney tower and it was night by then and the views were incredible from the top, we could actually see people leaving work from the telescopes there. Was amazing to see!
Sydney was amazing and even though we were only there for a short time we loved it every minute but for now it was time to head to Melbourne.
