Bula from Fiji!
Well, we said goodbye to the crappy weather in New Zealand and after a 3hour flight (seemed like a breeze compared to other flights!), we landed in Fiji to the sound of a fijian band welcoming everyone off the plane with flowers around their necks and shouting bula! We noticed the heat straight away although nowhere near as muggy as thailand...thank goodness!
We stayed for one night in Nadi, in a place which was ridiculously cheap...lets just say you could tell as it certainly wasnt a palace! still, we stuck it out, sharing a room with an old russian man in his y-fronts (so many more funny stores to tell!). We then went to a gospel church service where they were all singing, clapping and hallejuiajing (spelling!?)
The next morning, bright and early, we caught the public bus with the very friendly locals to the beachouse..where celebrity love island 2 was filmed! It is so lovely, right on the edge of the beach. We arrived to find there had been a mix up with our booking..we originally booked to be in dormitorys as theyre the cheapest...however, they booked us into a very nice twin room, but as it was their mistake they had to charge us only for dorm prices! We thought we would only be in there for one night and then would have to move to dorms..oh no my friends...here we are on our 8th night and still going strong in our luxury room!! Not bad eh?!
Life is pretty stressful here, the day consists of sunbathing, coconut jewellery making and chatting to people as we seem to know everyone from new zealand that weve already met! The most stressful decision of the day is what factor suncream to wear and 4pm is pretty awful as it's "scone-o-clock" where we all get free tea and scones!! Having said about sunbathing, our tans arent exactly brilliant so dont worry we wont put you all to shame! But we are working on the tans!
Last saturday we went to see Fiji versus Australia (rugby union) in Suva. A girl who we had met in New Zealand knew one of the australian rugby players so we got free vip tickets to the match and met some of the players afterwards! Suva was a bit of an experience as we felt like celebs, people staring at us as we were the only white people around!
We are here for a few more nights before heading to robinson crusoe island, bounty island, and beachcomber island. We cant wait! It's so like paradise here! We keep bumping into people that we've previously met on our travels, including two guys who we met in our 1st week in thailand-how odd!?
Hope alls well back in rainy england. Lots of love and hugs, don't worry be happy (as everyone says here)
