Rocky mountains are big and white. Today we sadly left Banff, yes we all decided we could move there. We headed north on highway 1 on our next adventure across the Rockies. As we started our journey I thought of the song Rocky Mountain High by John Denver. I know he is American and we are in Canada, but the rocky mountains cover the west coast so it seemed fitting. The roads are in good condition compared to when we drove in. Only a few icy patches so the drive was pretty good. After we passed Lake Louise we turned left and headed west. We went higher in altitude and the temperature dropped to -23oC, yep it was cold. As we crossed the border into British Columbia there seemed to be a big change in road conditions. The roads had little ice and snow and were easy to drive on. As we arrived in Golden, home to Kicking Horse mountain resort, it was coffee and hot chocolate time. Tim Horton's is a chain of shops that does coffee and pastries. They did the job. Next stop, Revelstoke for lunch.
We arrived in Kamloops and found our hotel for the night. We made our way to the local mall where we had dinner. The boxing day sales had started so Stacey and Sue took Emily and Matilda to GAP, where they said "we never pay full price for anything". This was true and they picked something up on sale. Tilds held off as Stacey said there would be good sales in Vancouver too.
Back to the hotel to finish off Ice Age 3 and then sleep for the drive into Vancouver tomorrow.
