Meghan's Trip
Well, I am here in Thailand now! I still can't believe it. Oh, by the way our dive trip was amazing! We met some fantastic people on the boat and saw some incredible things in the reef. We bought the video of our diving so that we can show all of you when we get back and we can print pictures from it. I also took the picture of all of us under the water with me. So, now ya'll have been diving on the Great Barrier Reef! :)
Arrived in Bangkok last night after a REALLY long day yesterday. The city was lively at midnight! People everywhere, selling things, cooking on the streets, and doing plenty of other things. The first thing that I noticed was that the van I got picked up in had no seatbelts. Kinda scary when the drivers are all over the road. They drive so fast, ignore lights, and dont' have street lanes in the city. It was crazy. My hotel was nice, right next to Chinatown.
Today has been great so far. I met a girl from Aussie that is on the same group trip. We took a tuk tuk around the city, the driver wouldn't take us where we wanted to go though. Finally got out and shopped. What a wonderful place to shop! I am going crazy with all the great deals. We met some really friendly people on the streets. One gave us a great suggestion for a cheaper place to buy silk. So, we went to the House of Silk. Sunny was my helper. He followed me around and pulled out all kinds of fabric for me. I of course ordered way too much. We got treated with the upmost respect. I couldn't believe the deals. Then Sunny arranged for 'his' driver to take us anywhere we wanted. I have the driver picking me up tomorroew to go back and try everything on. Then I ate a fantastic meal for only about 2 US dollars. And of course w4e got a Thai massage for about 6 US dollars for 1 hour. It was the best 6 dollars I have ever spent! Just wonderful. I can't wait to tell you more about this vibrant and fun city!
