Hello All
We are now waiting in Singapore airport ready to board the plane for Sydney, so by the time you all read this we should be there.
So how the journey began - we left Heathrow only very slightly delayed and with Katie a bit disgruntled at not getting an upgrade. The Happy Honeymoon cake (see photo) they supplied us with instead did soften the blow as she lay on the bed in the hotel munching away with a spoon as it was all we had. Singapore has been hot but not that sunny, there are some photos of the storms we have seen. On the first day when walking back from the Botanical Gardens we got caught out in a mega storm and were rescued by some lovely Singoporean ladies. They ran over with their brollies and escorted us to safety.
We have been to about 300 shops I think, oh my ladies you would all love it. We only wish we had more room. Katie did manage to squeeze in a top from Warehouse and Matt sensibly purchased a souverier from Raffles Hotel. At Raffles we sampled the famous Singapore Slings - very nice quite strong, and ate some moneky nuts with the pigeons who joined us - see photo, I couldn't believe they flew right in the bar!
We went for a look around Sentosa Island and met with a giant Lion/Fish the Merlion which is the symbol of Singpore and went on a tour and ended up in his mouth! We have visited Chinatown and seen the market and went for a look in a temple.
Suntec City was an interesting place (funnily enough another Mall) although in the centre there was a Fountain of Welath, you had to approach the fountain walk round three times and make a wish. It was quite a laugh as there was a scary little man with a whistle moving everyone along. We also have been on a night safari which was actually quite scary. The idea is you travel around at night as to not disturb the animals too much and to see them more naturally. We could not take photos though as you are not allowed to use flash photography.
All in all Sinpaore has been lovely, the people are very friendly and helpful and although no major sunshine it's always hot. The only thing we have come a bit wary of is the food. There's some wierd stuff here. One day we decided to sample some and had to leave when Katie saw Chicken Feet Noodles on the menu with an actual picture of the feet? Was of their national dishes is Fish Head Curry. So we are very grateful for the International Language of Cookies n Cream please at Ben & Jerrys and have not lost any weight. - Don't worry Mums we ate fruit for breakfast everyday!
Had better go else may miss flight, missing you all but having a fantastic time.
Lots of Love Mr & Mrs S xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
