After an easy check in at Heathrow and no flight delays we headed for the bar to get some preflight drinks. 2 pints and beer and a glass of wine later we rushed to our terminal after we saw it was closing and boarded the air maroc flight. We sat next to a very friendly Moroccan named Ahmed who we exchanged polite coinversion with about his country and his family in Meknes. He has been over to the UK looking for to go to UK military school to support his family here.
After 3 hours we touched down in sub saharan Africa. We proceded directly to the terminal exit where we eventually found the Exodus representative who didnt speak a word of English, only French and Arabic. Lou and my French was poor we and we struggled to even find out if we were going the right direction or if anyone else had arrived. He drove eratically for 45min to hotel Maroc through the suburbial slums which felt intimidating, especially at traffic lights where people approached the car (even at 10pm on a Sunday) to sell or beg. Luckily our Exodus driver had locked all the car!
Hotel Maroc was pleasant but when we arrived we were given no answers to the rest of the groups arrival. So the first night here was noisy, lonely and intimidating one. This blow was somewhat softened be the free mint tea on arrival and beautiful moroccan style bed.
