Fraser Island: I arrived to Rainbow beach & did a self-guided 4WD offroad safari tour with a group of 11 people. We had a great time as we ventured off in the truck to Fraser Island where we would do some beach & inland driving in some pretty rough conditions. It was a very bumpy ride & we only managed getting stuck in the sand a few times but had to help bail a few other groups out as well. We camped for 2 nights, one night in the campground & once on the beach. We came across some dingoes (Australia's wild dogs) in our campground (one even found his way into the irish guys tent to steal his noodles...that'll teach the irish to keep food in the car & zip their tent up! At Indian point we saw tons of dolphins, whales, eagle rays and turtles in the ocean from Indian point & had a great time swimming in the lakes. We weren't able to swim in the ocean as it is one of the busiest times for sharks but we didn't end up seeing any at all! We accidently forgot about the sharks one night while camping out on the beach & decided to go wash some dishes in the water. We ended up losing a few items when someone then came to remind us about the sharks, forcing us to run back out, leaving a few things behind! Thankfully we retrieved them on the drive back. We saw the red cutting board that was washed up by the tide and yelled at Emiel to stop the car, almost causing a car crash on the beach...but all was ok. The trip was great utnil we got back to find out that somehow along the way we broke a spring on the car. We unfortuanately had to shell out a bit more cash but it wasn't too expensive when it was divided by 9 people. The trip was still definately worth it & I will now continue making my way north to the Whitsunday Islands!
Rainbow Beach: Had 2 days to spend at the beach which wasn't fantastic but since my route is now pre-planned I couldn't modify it. It was apparently raining at my next destination so it wasn't so bad.
