Alexander Sacophagus *312-307 BCE, Sidon, Lebanon_The Alexander Sarcophagus is one of four massive carved sarcophagi discovered during the excavations at the necropolis near Sidon, Lebanon, in 1887. The Sarcophagus was probably created for a wealthy and influential noble or governor of the region.A sarcophagus is a box-like funeral receptacle for a corpse and was usually created to be displayed above the ground.
