According to the legend, Marc Anthony built a Roman Bath at this very spot for Cleopatra as a wedding gift and even had the golden sands transported here from Egypt. This place was picked because they had found a hot water spring supplied by the thermal waters of a crater lake found behind one of the mountains north of the bay. Legend says that the queen visited here just after marrying Marc Anthony on what would have been their honeymoon.
