Due to an intense trade between Egypt and Antalya, with the importance of the port it is thought that the staircase of 44 stone steps which provides one of the major routes between the port-marina and Kaleiçi, (old city) was built by Venetians who occupied and destroyed the city in the 15th century. These steps of stairs in the middle point of themarina, extend along below the city walls which enclose the northern part of the acropolis of the settlement.
