Roman Gate, view from the outside. Perge has three main gates, those in the south, west and east.the Septemius Severus Square is between these two gates. The gate which is called The Roman Gate and which is thought to have been built at the end of the 2nd century or at the beginning of the 3rd century AD is one of the most impressive monuments of the city. It is a part of the large defence system constructed in the Roman Period that surrounds the city.
