Kadikoy crocodile
This strange small and apparently misfit for the area animal is located at the center square where the armenian church of St. Takvor is in Caferaga. It is seated on a marble book which has inscribed an excerpt from the book ‘Geographica’ of the greek geographer and historian Strabo, describing the city of Chalcedon (nowadays Kadikoy). Strabo (58 BC-21 AD) has visited the area and as he writes out: “In the country, a little above the sea coast, is a fountain, Azaritia, which breeds little crocodiles”! No evidence ever of such animals has been found anywhere near Kadikoy or Turkey for that matter.
