Arriving at Skopje
Monument of the Macedonian revolutionary Gjorche Petrov (April 2, 1865 – June 28, 1921)(April 2, 1865 – June 28, 1921). initially its aim was to gain autonomy for Macedonia and Adrianople regions in the Ottoman Empire, however later it became an agent serving Bulgarian interests in Balkan politics. He was eventually killed by an IMRO-assassin in June 1921 in Sofia. To honor his name a suburb of Skopje was named Gjorče Petrov. In 2011, the red double decker buses were introduced to Skopje. The buses were specially designed to resemble the British-made Leyland buses used in Skopje during the 1950s and 1960s. City authorities say the aim is to bring back Skopje's old flair.
