Warnambool Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village
Diving suit. The Children was built in Liverpool in 1825. and was owned by a family in Portland, Australia. On January 11, 1839, the ship sailed from Tasmania to Adelaide. Soon after setting sail, the ship was hit by a hurricane. It was carried cross the strait and stayed off the coast for 2 days battling the storm. It then ran aground on a reef and within two hours was sunk. 17 lives were lost.
