This main building was originally North Adelaide Grammar School, later Whinham College was a private school operated in North Adelaide, South Australia by John Whinham and his family. The building was opened in 1882 and enjoyed a brief period of great influence and renown. It had a reputation as the most modern and best-equipped secondary school in South Australia
