Edicarean Period (580-560 million years ago) These fossils were first discovered in 1946 in the Ediacara hills in the Flinders ranges of South Australia. Arborea fossils are made up of a center stalk with smaller branches coming off of it. The main stalk was anchored to the seafloor by a disc-shaped structure
