Luxor Temple Roman wall painting over hieroglyphics . The Romans built a fort at the ancient Egyptian temple complex site and it is thought that around 1.500 legionaries were stationed at the site during Egypt’s Roman era. The paintings date from the reign of Diocletian, late 3rd century CE.
