Hippopotamus on land late afternoon
The hippopotamus is the second largest land mammal. They can weigh as much as three and a half tons and their ‘hide’ (skin) can weigh up to half a ton alone. Each hippo foot has 4 toes and although they are webbed, for water usage, they are evenly sprayed enough to support the hippo when it is on land. The main source of food for the Hippo is the short grass. They spend five or more hours grazing every single evening. They may walk up to five miles during that period of time. They can also consume up to 150 pounds of food per day.
